About Us

Entrance of Edgewater-New Smyrna Beach Elks Lodge 1557.

Four years ago, a couple moved to New Smyrna Beach and walked through the doors at Lodge 1557 on West Park Avenue not knowing a soul. By the end of the night, they felt like they'd lived here for decades. That's not a fluke. It's the culture this lodge has built, one handshake at a time, right here in Edgewater-New Smyrna Beach.

The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks has been woven into American communities since 1868, and Lodge 1557 carries that legacy with genuine warmth rather than ceremony for ceremony's sake. Members show up for each other, for local veterans, for kids in need, and for the kind of Friday night that makes you forget you were stressed about anything. The bar staff here are the real deal, people who take pride in what they do and remember your name.

With a 4.5-star rating backed by 80 member and visitor reviews, this lodge earns its reputation the old-fashioned way: by actually being good at what it does. Come for a tour, stay for a drink, and find out why so many people who just planned to stop by ended up joining.

What We Offer

Lodge 1557 offers a full-service members' bar where the bartenders are celebrated by name in reviews and known for working with genuine pride. Whether you're a traveling Elk stopping in with your membership card or a local considering joining, the bar is the social heartbeat of the lodge.

Beyond the bar, the lodge hosts community events, charitable fundraisers, and social gatherings that serve both members and the broader New Smyrna Beach area. The BPOE charitable mission runs deep here, with programs supporting veterans, youth scholarships, and local causes that members vote on and fund together.

New members receive a warm welcome that goes well beyond a handshake. Staff and veteran members like Cindy B. have been praised for taking the time to give personal tours and make first-time visitors feel oriented and at home. Membership opens the door to a national network of Elks lodges, meaning you carry the community with you when you travel.

"This is a very friendly Elks Lodge. My husband and I moved here 4 years ago, and the members have all made us feel welcome from the first day we walked in the door. Elks (BPOE) does so much for the community and charities around the County, it's an honor to be a member of their organization. They have great dinners and social activities to raise money for the charies. It is a wonderful place to meet and get to know locals. If you are interested in the origins of the organization, go to Elks.org, or stop into our Lodge and talk to us about being a Member."

"I love that they are charity driven. Great organization! Where can you get a home cooked meal with dessert for $10. And that they house a food bank during these very trying times and all this while following CDC guidelines."

Flag Day.

Long before it was a national observance, the Order set aside June 14th to honor the flag. Patriotism has always been one of our cardinal principles, and every lodge meeting still closes the same way it has for over a century.
